Inspiring Youth, Shaping Futures

Character First Mentoring is a nonprofit organization, founded by the Leadership of President Damian S. Joseph and Secretary Treasurer Tawanda M Joseph.
It is a dynamic community-centered organization that provides multiple services with a general focus on mentoring by building solid character in all youth. Our main focus is mentoring young boys from ages 9-16 in Washington State specifically Seattle. These services include chess lessons, life skills coaching, stock market investing instruction, mental health programs, leadership skills and reading comprehension training. We provide all of these services while strongly emphasizing exemplary character first. We aim to cultivate a supportive community that fosters personal growth, resilience and confidence.
We understand that repeated failures in youth, lead to the development of destructive habits. We help these youth to build their character and faith again to achieve the endless possibilities that await them. To accomplish this goal, we provide a nurturing environment that promotes their highest level of potential and reinforces personal respect as they reach adulthood. All of these tools will ultimately lead to enhanced character.
 

Damian Joseph

Damian Joseph is a highly successful Certified Teacher for the past 28 years. With a background in youth development and a passion for social change, he founded Character First Mentoring to create opportunities for youth to thrive. He believes in the transformative power of mentorship and is committed to fostering a supportive community. Having extensive experience in education and community engagement, he is dedicated to creating programs that meet the diverse needs of our youth.

Michelle Joseph

Tawanda M Joseph has been in Home and Community Services since 1996 in various capacities. Having degree in Business Management, she is also a Certified Project Manager, Diversity Professional and Diversity Executive. She has also done her Master’s in Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instructional Design. She has a strong belief that through great leadership you can impact the lives of others positively. With this passion she established Character First Mentoring with Damian Joseph to empower young boys through their specialized mentoring programs.

Our Mission Statement

At Character First Mentoring; our mission is to effectively and effciently mentor boys ages nine to sixteen years of age. Recognizing that with a strong focus on character building first these young boys will be able to navigate the inevitable vicissitudes/diffculties that life will ultimately bring.
